Trama
Una normale famiglia inglese, divisa da gelosie, odi e antichi dissapori, si riunisce il giorno del funerale del patriarca. Amici e parenti si ritrovano e ognuno deve sforzarsi di venire a patti con gli altri, dissimulando le proprie ansie. Daniel, uno dei figli del defunto, deve tenere fede alla promessa fatta a sua moglie Jan di una vita migliore e intanto si sta preparando a fronteggiare il fratello Robert, un famoso romanziere pieno di sé che è in volo da New York. Intanto arriva anche la loro cugina Martha. È in condizioni disperate e ha deciso di presentare finalmente il suo nuovo fidanzato, Simon, al padre, sperando che questa volta lui approvi. Il suo piano, però, naufraga miseramente quando Simon assume per caso una droga sintetica e diviene preda di crisi incontrollabili e si spoglia proprio di fronte al suo potenziale suocero. L'arrivo di un misterioso invitato, però, scuote tutta la famiglia. L'uomo si dichiara a conoscenza di un terribile segreto che riguarda il patriarca e che potrebbe danneggiare tutta la famiglia e si dice pronto a rivelarlo. Questa rivelazione, per la prima volta, mette d'accordo tutta la famiglia: gli scheletri devono rimanere ben nascosti negli armadi
Plot
Daniel is a decent young man, married to Jane, still living at his father's home. When his father dies, it is up to him to organize his funeral. On this painful morning, the suitable grave expression on his face, Daniel is ready to welcome his father's friends and relatives. But preserving the dignity inherent in such circumstances will be a hard task. Particularly with an undertaker who botches his work, the return from the USA of his famous but selfish brother, his cousin's fiancé who has accidentally ingested drugs, the presence a moron who takes advantage of the sad event to win back the heart (or rather the body) of a woman who is about to marry another, of a handicapped old uncle who is also the most unbearable pain in the neck. To cap it all, Daniel notices the presence among the mourners of a mysterious dwarf nobody else seems to know...
